Local Rules

OUT OF BOUNDS - A ball is out of bounds if it comes to rest:

  • Outside the boundary of the course.
  • In or over the drain to the right of the 15th hole.
  • In the car park, including the roadway fronting the Clubhouse and the enclosed yard of the Club premises.
  • On both parts of the avenue and the area in between from where is divides on the left of the 10th tee to where is joins the car park.
  • Embedded Ball:
    Through the green, a ball that is embedded in it's own pitch-mark in the ground other than sand, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first strike a part of the course through the green.
    Exception: A player may not obtain relief under this Local Rule if it is clearly unreasonable for him to make a stroke because of interference by anything other than the condition covered by this Local Rule.

    Movable Obstructions:
    Stones in bunkers, Hazard Stakes (Red & Yellow but not White Out Of Bounds Stakes) and 150m distance poles are movable obstructions (Rule 24.1 applies).

    Immovable Obstructions
    The avenue, artificial hole caps on greens, ball washers, bins, blue states& fences at young tree plantations, direction signs, distance marker discs, distance amrker signs & flags on driving range, drain grills and covers, drinking fountains, ESB/Telegraph poles,fence surrounding septic tank between 17th and 18th, gravel and tarmac paths, manhole covers,railway sleepers, sand a& gravel drains, seats, sheds,sprinkler heads, starters hut, steps, tee markers, tee signs,tee stones, tops and sides of septic tanks, walls forming the sides of tees, winter tees and mats (Rule 24.2 applies).

    Young Tree Planations
    To protect the newly planted trees, play & searching for balls in prohibited in the areas marked by Blue Stakes &/or Protective Fence. If a Players ball lies in such an area, the Player must drop, without penalty a substitute ball within 2 club lengths of the point of entry.

    Overhead Wires
    A ball striking overhead wires must be replayed without penalty.

    Where staked trees interfere with a Players stance or swing, the ball may be lifted and dropped within one club length from the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.

    Water Hazards
    The open drain on the right of the 14th and crossing the 15th and 17th are water hazards (Rule 26.1 a & b).
